About Hyeran
Biography
Hyeran Lee is an emerging artist originally from South Korea, currently residing in Ontario, Canada. Building on her prior training and career as a graphic designer, she is currently pursuing her skills in painting.
Her recent works are expressionist paintings, often representing an emotional action and an element of eastern philosophy.
Her work has been showcased in various juried shows all over the Greater Toronto Area, such as Visual Arts Mississauga, the Ontario Society of Artist’s Emerging Artist Exhibition, and Art Works Oakville’s juried shows since 2012.
Her paintings have been featured at the Society of Canadian Artists: Open International Juried On-line Exhibition in 2017 & 2018, and displayed in the SCA 50th open International Juried Exhibition . She has also been featured on Saatchiart.com, the world’s largest international online art gallery, for various collections such as: the Large Paintings, Abstract Expressionism, Cy Twombly Collection, New Minimalist Works, along with recognitions as Best of the Month, and New This Week Correlation.
She has produced a sizable body of work since the beginning of her full-time painting career. She began her practice by exploring different styles and subjects to find ones that suited her best. She is strongly influenced by Expressionism and she uses visual elements to express the relationships of everyday life.

Hyeran holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Duksung Women’s University, and a Certificate in Fine Arts, with High Honours, from Sheridan College.
Statement
The proceedings of our daily events - the stories in our lives - are coordinated by various forces.
These non-objective and abstract expressionist works represent two essential, yet opposing forces of life: the powerful and the weak. They aim to present the characteristics of metaphysical energy, such as flow, movement, freedom, through contrast of value, colour, space, and varying gesture lines. It is an expression of life through imagery.
